Zusammenfassung: | The transportation of inmates can be risky be it to the officers, public and the inmates themselves. There are numerous ways of monitoring and tracking inmate transportation, some of which are GPS and satellite based. While these advanced tracking technologies can provide significant advantages that provide protection from end-to-end, these methods too are found to be expensive, and require GPS or specialized tags. Since every minute counts, having a real time location of the transportation is the key in determining a safe route for inmate transportations. This test-bench project aims to study the tracking capability and accuracy and its IoT-adaptable system through the utilization of LoRa and The Things Network that can be modelled into a real-world scenario. The system focuses on prison transport as to emphasize the crucial needsof reliable tracking system and yet affordable. The use of LoRa – physical layer implementation of new technology of Low Power Wide Area Network comes with devices that are typically have very long battery life, thus giving advantage for multiplelong journeys if required, to transport the inmates. It is found that the system works with good tracking accuracy and is fair enough to be operated at semi-urban areas where the prisons may be located. |
