Digitalization of the transportation process as a driver for development of shippers’ service

This article examines the prerequisites for global digitalization of the transportation process by rail, describes practical significance of the use of digital services in the interests of customers. The available digital products for customers-shippers are considered. The problem of fragmentation of actually functioning systems in railway transport, created by railway transport operators and the JSC “Russian Railways” holding, is raised. The list of problematic issues in the organization of digital transformation of a transportation process is given. A concept is proposed for creating a unified digital system for the “Russian Railways” holding and operators with access to railway infrastructure based on the principle of system and system mindset. The issue of the subsequent creation of a unified cargo ecosystem of the Russian Federation, which includes all participants in the transportation process to provide a service for shippers on the principle of “one click”, is considered.
