Zusammenfassung:Peatlands contain organic materials of more than 12% with depth of more than 50 cm. Peatland conditions are always inundated with water that limits vegetation life so that the vegetation is different from that in mineral land. The biodiversity of peatland vegetation is the main factor in the balance of ecosystem. This study describes the floristic species diversity of trees in peat swamp forest in Sanggar Pulau Muda Village, Pelalawan Regency District, Riau, Indonesia. Purposive sampling using transect method was carried out to record the tree vegetation within 50 x 50 meter plots. Sample plots were made at forest villageSangar of 10 plots. Following parameters were calculated: density, frequency and dominance of a species to aggregate the Importance Value Index (IVI) as well as the Shannon-Wienner biodiversity index (H’). The study result shows that there are 16 species of native tree peatlands within the plots. The composition of the 16 species of trees is reflected from IVI obtained. The species with the highest IVI is a species of Calophyllum insularum 0.4885 and Shorea platycarpa 0.4059 value. Both species showed that its existence is very dominant in the forest. The result of calculation native species diversity peatlands with the biodiversity index of Shannon-Wienner retrieved results (H ’)=2.483. The index value into the category of being.
