Zusammenfassung: | The unwanted industrial waste red mud (RM) embedded with Al(OH)3 was prepared and used for removal of Zn(II) ions from industrial wastewater. This prepared bio-adsorbent has brilliant efficiency towards zinc, which offers typical benefits including great adsorption capacity, easy preparation, and effective isolation from given aqueous solution. Several characterization techniques like FT-IR, XRD, SEM and EDX were employed for the adsorption process. From the results of kinetics and isotherm data, it has been inferred that the experiment was well-established to pseudo second order kinetics model with R2 value 0.9945 and followed Langmuir adsorption isotherm (R2=0.9938) with maximum adsorption capacity 26.87 mg/g at pH 5. The results suggested that the Al(OH)3/RM adsorbent material have strong affinity to zinc and could be used as an excellent adsorbent for treatment of zinc contaminated wastewater. |
