Zusammenfassung:Myocardial infarction (MI) (also known as a heart attack) is the irreversible death (necrosis) of heart muscle caused by a lack of oxygen for an extended period of time (ischemia).study was performed on total 30 patients comprised of 20 patients aged 39-50 years with MI who presented to the cardiologic clinics in Samarra city ,study also consist ; 10 healthy women in the same age as control group Study period between December 2019 and February 2020.The present study was conducted to estimate omentin-1 level in myocardial infarction patients. The study involved 20 patients with myocardial infarction and 10 healthy men as controls. The results showed significant increase at (p≤0.05) in omentin-1(67.86 ±7.23) in patients compare with control (9.284±2.170), chol showed increase in patients(205.7± 34.33) compared with control (130.23±21.86), TG showed increase in patients(244.8±49.29) compared with control (135.5±10.99), LDL-C showed a significant increase at (p≤0.05) in patients(168.47±28.56) compared with control (127.35±24.042), and VLDL-C showed increase in patients(48.95±9.85) compared with control (27.09±2.20),while HDL-C showed significant decrease at (p≤0.05) in MI patients(10.22±1.84 ) compare to control.( 24.17±3.60).Omentin-1 hormone levels increase in patient with MI compare to control and this is disagreement with most studies that suggest to decrease omentin-1 level in heart disease because omentin-1 has protective role against heart disease but in our study this increase maybe due to metformin drug that using by patient and number of studies report that metformin improve omentin-1 level in MI patient also there is disorder in lipid profile in MI patients compare to control.
