Zusammenfassung:This research was conducted related to the difference between the results of software simulations and the results of testing on structures built using SM 570 and SM 490 materials. in the software simulation results, the resulting stress is below the allowable stress of the material, but in the test results, there is a stress value that is above the allowablestress value of the material. The test aims to determine the mechanical properties of the SM 490 and SM 570 materials which are expressed in terms of ultimate stress, yield stress, modulus of elasticity, and poison ratio. The equipment used is a strain gauge, data logger, and a 1000 KN tensile testing machine. The research method used is to make a tensile test specimen of 3 pcs each, then attach 2 strain gauges to the center of the specimen horizontally and vertically. The specimen that has been installed with a strain gauge then does a tensile test until it breaks. The value of strain and stress obtained from the tensile test is made a stress-strain graph and then the value range is taken in the elastic area until it is below 75% of the yielding material. From this value, is taken the difference between the maximum and minimum stress values is then divided by the difference between the maximum and minimum strain values. From the tests carried out, themodulus of elasticity for the SM 570 material is 171.6 Gpa and the modulus of elasticity for the SM 490 material is 182 GPa. This value is below the standard elastic modulus of SM 490 and SM 570 materials of 207 Gpa. The poison ratio value of 0.28 is also below the poison ratio value of the SM 490 and SM 570 material standards of 0.3. Many factors affect this value, including the standard specimen manufacturing process which is carried out using the laser cutting method.
