Zusammenfassung:The mechanical properties of aluminium 2024 (Al 2024) Metal Matrix Composite reinforced with chromium boride mixture is investigated and analysed. Al 2024 has poor corrosion and wear-resistant properties to aluminium 7075 (Al 7075) but has good fatigue strength. Thus, chromium boride particles used as reinforcement increases the corrosion resistance and enhances tribological and mechanical properties. To prevent clustering and uneven distribution, stir casting technique is used. It is observed that, wear resistance in Al 2024 increases up to 10 percentage by weight (wt. %). with the addition of chromium boride particles. The hardness has improved up to 121 BHN in composites of 5 wt. % and 10 wt. % and tensile properties significantly increased to 166.42 MPa with the addition of 7.5 wt. % of reinforcement. Thus, Al 2024 reinforced with chromium boride composite can be used for applications where high wear resistance and tensile strength are essential.
