Zusammenfassung:Ornamentation contributes greatly to the aesthetics of architecture as It also helps in organizing the architectural form and enables it to be read. In its relation to architecture, in addition to its aesthetic purposes, the ornamentation in Islamic architecture helps in translating the architectural space. It changes the appearance of the building material and hides the structural elements; it covers the entire architectural surface in order to dissolve the mass of the building and hate the void which is an opportunity for the appearance of the ornament form without having a formative value in and of itself. Islamic architecture was characterized by the richness of ornaments formations in their various forms such as geometric and floral patterns and Calligraphy ornamentation, which reveal the characteristics of Islamic art and confirm that it is the most developed of the arts. This research aims to study the aesthetic values of the ornament units for some of buildings in the Abbasid architecture through the study and analysis of the ornament's samples of some its buildings. Thus, the research problem was summarized by the lack of studies related to the study of the aesthetic values of Islamic ornamentations in Abbasid architecture. So the aim of the research is to study the aesthetic values of ornamentations in Abbasid architecture, the research relied on the descriptive and analytical approach of selected buildings from the Islamic architecture of the Abbasid period to reach the aim of the research in building a theoretical framework, then applying this framework in the practical aspect, the most important results of the research is (The Islamic ornamentation was distinguished, despite the different time periods of the selected models in this research, as having the same aesthetic values that earned Islamic architecture its identity through the ages).
