Zusammenfassung: | As a fossil fuel alternative, biodiesel needs to be upgraded. Meanwhile, the important properties, especially its density, viscosity, heating value and flash point are related to one another. The correlation between these characteristics was investigated in a biodiesel mixture from jatropha and used cooking oils. Jatropha oil is a potential non-edible raw material, and mixing with used cooking oil can improve the quality. These oils are converted into biodiesel through a process of transesterification. Furthermore, both types of biodiesel were mixed in 11 composition variations, and subsequently, property testing was conducted including viscosity, density, heating value, and flash point. The results showed that there were correlation with changes in these characteristics. Also, the viscosity and flash point of the biodiesel were higher along with increasing density, while the heating value was lower. In addition, higherviscosity increases the flash point and decreases the heating value. |
