Zusammenfassung:The analysis of scientific and applied aspects of the status, management and use of water resources in the Aral Sea basin for environmental sustainability and water security in Central Asian region. A set of legal and management measures is being considered to ensure sustainable water use in conditions of low water levels. The development and implementation of these measures will ensure the ecological stability of the water management system in the context of global climate change and the associated water shortage. Advances in water management (in the 1960, in the early 1970, when a number of large irrigation canals were built) have minimized the efficiency of irrigation systems, which was 0.5-0.55. Due to extensive irrigation, the practical lack of water saving irrigation technologies led to a sharp deterioration of irrigated land in large areas in the late 1970 and early 1990 of the last century. Due to the large-scale rise of the groundwater level, the total area of medium and highly saline lands during this period reached more than half of the total irrigated arable land of the Republic. To this day, more than 130 cities, district centres and villages have been flooded and need to improve the reclamation condition of the lands located within the irrigated areas. Therefore, it is very important to assess the hydro ecological performance of the agricultural landscape in different situations of water availability.
