Zusammenfassung: | This project is devoted to the investigation of the molding methods influence on the properties of cordierite ceramics. The following molding methods were used: semi-dry molding, plastic molding, and slip molding. Refractory clay, talc with maximum magnesium content and electrofused corundum were used as raw materials. The dispersed composition of the resulting masses mainly consists of particles with a size of less than 30 µm. The samples obtained by plastic molding have the maximum density (1920 kg/m3). In this case, water absorption is 11.7%, complete shrinkage is 1.8%. Products with a minimum density (1680 kg/m3) are obtained by slip casting, while the water absorption is 21.2% with a total shrinkage of 2.63%. With the plastic molding method, articles with a density of 1920 kg/m3 were obtained; shrinkage was 1.8% and water absorption was 11.7%. The linear thermal expansion coefficient of the studied ceramic composition in the temperature range 20–800°C was 3.2·10−6 K-1. The cordierite content in the resultant ceramics was 50–60%. |
