Zusammenfassung:In Tamil Nadu the demand for water is geometrically increasing in day today life. Ground water resources play a major role to meet the increasing demand. Krishnagiri is one of the districts which depends more on ground water for farming domestic use and industrial purposes. Many industries are situated in Hosur/Krishnagiri industrial belt. So, it is important to check the quality of groundwater. A GIS based method is adopted to evaluate and analyze the quality of ground water using the Water Quality Index method in Krishnagiri. Hydro chemical parameters of water such as pH, TDS, NO3, Ca, Mg, Na, K, Cl, SO4, CO3, & F are to be evaluated. GIS is used for mapping and analyzing these hydro chemical parameters in detail. The results from GIS will be very useful for detecting the cause of water quality degradation and to rectify it. Hence this method can be used to determine the Water Quality for the similar type of areas.
