Zusammenfassung:This paper analysis the failure causes of the combat jet aircraft rudder which occurred during fight mission. A rudder sizing method is used to determine the size of rudder, ANSYS is used for flow analysis of rudder and pro-e is used to design the rudder. The longitudinal crack occurred from the corrosion pit and the inner surface of rudder was heavily corroded due to over stress. Based on these results it was decided that the failure of rudder occurred. Therefore, it is advised that the rudder should be redesigned, and the material changed into more corrosive resistant to avoid future similar failures.
