Zusammenfassung: | A family of niobiates and tantalates with formula A4B2O9 have been attracting a lot of attention due to their linear magnetoelectric (ME) effect. Here, we report synthesis and magnetodielectric characterization of Fe4Nb2O9 compound. We have successfully synthesized Fe4Nb2O9 polycrystalline with a single phase of corundum-type structure by arc-melting method. Compound crystallizes in the [inline] space group of the α-Al2O3 structure. Anomalies in the temperature-dependent dielectric constant emerge around two temperatures (TN1 = 77 K and TN2 = 90 K) under zero magnetic field. The transition TN2 is corresponding to antiferromagnetic transition. The magnetodielectric/magnetoelectric phenomenon that emerge in Fe4Nb2O9 compound imply fascinating physics and potential application prospect for information storage. |
