Zusammenfassung: | The early process of mineral processing or after processing is milling by using a hammer mill unit, where the hammers are the parts that often undergo damages because of frequent usages and overloads. The objective of this experiment was to create hammers of hammer mill unit from alloy steel combinations from chrome-manganese-copper to reduce the dependency of imported hammers for the hammer mill unit. This experiment was started with making cast pattern to mold the alloy steel. Then, steel scrap was charged into the furnace until melting and manganese, chrome and copper were added to form alloy steel. The alloy steel was cast into the mold. Hardness test, microanalysis, and reliability test were conducted to the alloy steel cast product and the results were compared with common material used to make hammers for hammer mill unit, including; construction steel, spring and hard dock steels. The experiment results showed that the hardness of alloy steel product was 306 BHN, and had the highest reliability test, which was showed by the average reduced surface area of 69.70 mm2. |
