Zusammenfassung:A problem of determining stresses in hardened shafts is formulated, which takes into account the possibility of the material to work at the supercritical deformation stage (softening stage). A special iterative procedure for its solution is proposed. It is shown that, at certain values of the volume content of the constrained phase appearing in the surface layers as a result of quenching, transverse cracks appear in the shaft center.
