Zusammenfassung:The main objective of this research was to use a Tris extender which was supplemented with some sucrose concentration as to acquire the best quality of Garuts rams frozen semen. The result showed that the percentages of progressive motile sperm for additional sucrose of 0,4 g / 100 ml extender (49,00 ± 5,48%) was significantly higher (P < 0,05) than control (42,00 ± 2,74%) but was not significantly different (P > 0,05) from additional sucrose of 0,2 g / 100 ml extender (46,00 ± 4,18%). The percentages of sperm life for additional sucrose of 0,4 g / 100 ml extender (66,80 ± 5,81%) was significantly higher (P < 0,05) than control (52,67 ± 1,51%) but was not significantly different (P > 0,05) from additional sucrose of 0,2 g / 100 ml extender (62,75 ± 4,79 %). The percentages of plasma membrane intact of sperm for additional sucrose of 0,2 g / 100 ml extender (62,33 ± 6,51%) was significantly higher than (P < 0,05) the control (49,40 ± 2,19%). In conclusion, the additional of sucrose into the semen extenders could improve the quality of the Garut ram’s frozen semen. The addition of sucrose 0,2 g/100 ml extender is optimal dose to improve the quality of frozen semen of Garut rams.
