Zusammenfassung: | Secondary pest Oryzaephilus surinamensis and Tribolium castaneum were recorded as pest species in three warehouses in Klang, Selangor namely Jasa, Tenggara and Target Lane. This insect pest damage the rice product by eating on the broken rice and cause a deterioration towards rice quality such as nutrient content and moisture and physical disruption that effect the marketing values economically. Infestation of secondary pest were depending on the primary feeder as they bores which cause early damage. O. surinamensis individual were dominate by 96.9 % (13689 individuals) whereas 3.05% (431 individuals) left were represented by T. castaneum species. Even they shared the same function and known as secondary pest, but the abundance is quite far differing from each other, and shows significantly different p-value which is 0.023 for O. surinamensis at Jasa while 0.040 and 0.036 for T. castaneum at Jasa and Target Lane respectively. |
