Zusammenfassung: | To accelerate the economic growth, the local Government of Balikpapan has developed a coastal road development plan as a means to develop the area along the coastline of Balikpapan City. The development of this area requires the supply of electrical energy to meet its energy needs. In general, the majority of the electricity producer in Indonesia was supplies by fossil fuel sources. Utilization of fossil energy sources as an energy generator will provides more greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, it needs cleaner hybrid renewable energy development to substitute of that fossil energy roles. This study examines the optimal sizing scenario of hybrid energy to supplies the 1,960,867,226 kWh per year of energy needs in coastal road of Balikpapan. The HOMER Energy Modeling software was used to analyze the optimal size of hybrid energy system. The research was developed into two scenarios to find the best results in its application. The first scenario is an off-grid hybrid energy system. This system generates 5,507,187,166 kWh per year. The second scenario is an on-grid hybrid energy. The total energy generated by this on-grid system is 2,011,597,374 kWh per year. In conclusion, optimal size of the hybrid wind-PV energy in coastal road Balikpapan was obtained by the on-grid scenario, which produces 2,011,597,374 kWh per year. The total energy production at the on-grid scenario has reduced 63% from the off-grid scenario. |
