Influence of welding on strength of steel S355

The paper analyzes the impact of the thermal cycle on the basic strength parameters determined in the tensile test. On the basis of literature reports, it can be stated that in addition to changes in static strength and hardness, there is a significant reduction in impact strength and changes in fatigue strength. The observed changes in properties depend on the characteristic parameters of the thermal cycle of welding, in particular. In the analyzed case, the change in properties was determined by the distance of the area from which the sample was taken from the heat source which was the weld.
