Zusammenfassung:The condition of the fishermen’s settlement neighborhood is relatively slum and the low income socioeconomic community requires the efforts in the arrangement of the fishermen’s settlement environment, especially the existence of green open spaces. The objective of the research was to comprehensively examine the existence of green open space in the fisherman’s village in an effort to improve the quality of the coastal fishermen’s settlement environment. With green open space compliance, it can improve the quality of the environment and living standards of fishermen families on the coast. The research method was a combination of qualitative and quantitative research with a comprehensive descriptive analysis. It examined the coastal areas in Surabaya, precisely the residential area of fisherman in Sukolilo Village Bulak Sub-district, Surabaya City. The level of problems and viewpoints of the review and research variables are relatively large, hence the research was conducted in two stages of time. In this study, the identification and comprehensive review of aspects that affect the existence of green open space (RTH) in coastal areas. Study of potential and constraints on the priority fisherman settlements, especially the presence of green open space (RTH) with regard to the aspects that influence it, is required. It is expected that the results of this study can provide a discourse on the government’s policy on the implementation of green open space procurement, in the development of the region to spur economic and social growth of coastal fishermen communities, especially in Surabaya and other coastal areas in Indonesia, which can significantly increase the revenue and the welfare of fishermen’s families that are associated with the sea and coastal areas.
