Zusammenfassung:Samarium manganite doped with cadmium having general formula Sm1-xCdxMnO3 for x = 0.05, 0.15 were synthesized by solid state reaction technique. These compositions were characterized by various techniques like X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and dielectric. XRD analysis confirms the single phase formation with pervoskites structure having orthorhombic phase. Densities were determined and compared with the results obtained by Archimedes principle. The scanning electron micrograph shows that the particle size distribution is almost homogeneous and spherical in shape. FTIR analysis confirms the presence of various atomic bonds within a molecule. A very large value of dielectric constant was observed at low frequencies due to the presence of grains and interfaces. The dielectric constant value decreases with increase in cadmium doping at samarium site.
