Zusammenfassung: | A means of producing small uniform spherical solid charged particles is described. A perturbation is applied to a liquid jet which then breaks up into uniform droplets as a result of the Rayleigh instability. The droplets are charged by an electric field as they form. The charged droplets are then frozen by allowing them to fall into an environment whose temperature is below the freezing point of the material. The material used is sodium nitrite and the uniform particles can be produced between 90 and 150 μ in radius while falling a distance of less than 1.5 m. |
