A simple method for producing liquid or solid NMR samples containing dissolved gases at elevated pressures

The method and apparatus for preparing liquid or solid NMR samples containing dissolved gas at elevated pressures up to 5 MPa is described. A minimal amount of gas under pressure (a few mm3), avoiding dangerous explosions, is stored in the samples. Any contact of the liquid with metal and contamination is avoided by using the frozen liquid as valves. The samples can be stored and studied by different spectroscopies, such as ESR, IR, or UV spectroscopy. Sample rotation in NMR spectroscopy and temperature variations are possible.
