Zusammenfassung:This article studies the written production and the networks of intellectual sociability developed by Félix Frías during his stay in France, between 1848 and 1855. Throughout this period, while working as a correspondent for El Mercurio, Frías broke his ties with the historicist political language that the members of the Joven Generación Argentina had adopted a decade before. His thinking began to manifest a negative historical and anthropological perspective, characterized by a timeless duality between good and evil, morality and corruption. He structured instead an ultramontane and conservative language, centered on Catholicism and on the figure of the Roman Pontiff as guarantors of order and, in the future, freedom and democracy.
