Zusammenfassung:The first I-TASC reconnaissance and communication expedition to Antarctica took place from December 2006 to February 2007. Codenamed GROUNDHOG (a translation of the Norwegian word Grunehogna, where the mobile I-TASC LADOMIR Arctic base station will be located), its object was to construct and deploy I-TASC's first automatic weather station (AWS), remote sensor, and packet radio unit, to support I-TASC's operations in Antarctica from 2007 onwards.
