Zusammenfassung:The relationship between above-ground dry plant mass, leaf area index and root length for maize (Zea mays L. cv. PNR473) was investigated on a Clansthal series near Potchefstroom with the purpose of making a contribution to crop modelling. Future root length measurements can possibly be eliminated for this ecotope and cultivar by using regression equations it the leaf area index or above-ground dry plant material are known.
