Australian baseline data for western flower thrips ('Frankliniella occidentalis') susceptibility to cyantraniliprole (DPX-HGW86) and the establishment of a discriminating dose for resistance detection

Laboratory susceptible, reference resistant (spinosad pressured) and field collected (multiple resistances) western flower thrips 'Frankliniella occidentalis' (Pergande) were tested against formulated cyantraniliprole using a Potter spray tower to generate baseline response data. All test populations were killed at 8 g/L, with calculated LC9 99.9 level responses for the six strains ranging from 7.77 to 28.48 g/L. A cyantraniliprole discriminating dose of 25 g/L for the purpose of resistance monitoring in 'F. occidentalis' is proposed.
