Crystal structure and fluorescence of 1-[8-phenyl-9-(phenyl-ethyn-yl)-4 H -benzo[ def ]carbazol-4-yl]ethan-1-one

The crystal of the title compound, C H N O , which crystallizes in the monoclinic space group 2 / , was obtained by thermal evaporation of a 1:1 di-chloro-methane and hexa-nes solution of the pure compound. The crystal structure is stabilized by π-π inter-actions between benzo[ ]carbazole moieties and carbon-yl-carbonyl inter-actions between the two acetyl groups.
