Treatment of a ruptured fetal-type posterior communicating aneurysm with a combined approach using the new contour neurovascular system

Fetal-type posterior communicating artery (FPCom) aneurysms are associated with higher rates of recurrence after endovascular treatment than aneurysms at other locations. We report the case of a patient with a subarachnoid haemorrhage and ruptured right-sided FPCom aneurysm. The patient underwent ac...

Zusammenfassung:Fetal-type posterior communicating artery (FPCom) aneurysms are associated with higher rates of recurrence after endovascular treatment than aneurysms at other locations. We report the case of a patient with a subarachnoid haemorrhage and ruptured right-sided FPCom aneurysm. The patient underwent acute endovascular treatment with application of a novel combined approach-partial coiling to protect the dome and occlusion of the neck with a new flow-disrupter, endosaccular device, Contour (Cerus Endovascular)-as a stable, single-step treatment to prevent rebleeding in the acute stage and long-term potential recurrences.
