Effect of chronic p , p ′-dichlorodiphenyldichloroethylene (DDE) exposure on high fat diet-induced alterations in glucose and lipid metabolism in male C57BL/6H mice

Highlights • Chronic DDE exposure in conjunction with high fat diet (HFD) had a biphasic effect on fasting blood glucose. • Prolonged DDE exposure decreased HFD-induced glucose intolerance, hyperinsulinemia, and homeostasis model assessment value for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR). • Chronic DDE expos...

Zusammenfassung:Highlights • Chronic DDE exposure in conjunction with high fat diet (HFD) had a biphasic effect on fasting blood glucose. • Prolonged DDE exposure decreased HFD-induced glucose intolerance, hyperinsulinemia, and homeostasis model assessment value for insulin resistance (HOMA-IR). • Chronic DDE exposure in conjunction with HFD increased skeletal muscle but not adipose tissue Glut4 expression compared to HFD alone. • HFD-induced hepatic steatosis is reduced by prolonged, chronic DDE exposure.
