Zusammenfassung:Objectives The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) on the treatment outcomes of patients with postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMOP). Material and method Thirty-five patients who had been diagnosed as PMOP by lumbar and/or femoral neck bone mineral density screening (BMD) and who had comorbid T2DM were included in the study. Thirty-five patients who had been diagnosed as PMOP but who had no comorbidity including DM constituted the control group. Demographic features, biochemical parameters, femoral and lumbar T scores were all recorded. All patients were treated with bisphosphonate, calcium and vitamin D and the same parameters were evaluated at the end of the first and fifth year.
