Zusammenfassung: | The majority of published reviews of cognitive training do not differentiate types of training despite evidence that specific cognitive training approaches demonstrate unique effects. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to examine the effects of one specific cognitive training approach, Useful Field of View (UFOV®) cognitive training (a.k.a. speed of processing training). Randomized controlled trials investigating the effects of UFOV® cognitive training among older adults were included. Forty-four studies were identified in systematic review, and 33 were included in meta-analyses. Effect sizes were estimated using random-effects. A significant medium-sized effect favoring UFOV® cognitive training over control was found for the targeted proximal outcome, UFOV performance, d=0.71, p |
