Melanin-like Hydrogels Derived from Gallic Macromers

The periodate oxidation of branched poly(ethylene glycol) macromers with gallate termini results in a hydrogel with melanin‐like pigmentation and quinoid electrophilicity. This electrophilicity can be exploited for facile coupling with biomolecules.
