Zusammenfassung: | Highlights • Development of unusual and rare complication of contralateral hearing loss and lower motor neuron facial palsy following vestibular schwannoma excision surgery. • The cause of this rare complication is obscure and various theories are proposed. • The treatment options are very limited. Steroids and vasodilators can be tried with variable results with respect to recovery of 7th-8th cranial nerves function. • Potentially devastating problem in a patient who pre operatively has compromised hearing loss on the side of the tumor. |
