Zusammenfassung: | The clinical features of the Guillain-Barré syndrome in 34 Nigerian patients are reported. The patients were treated with oral prednisolone 20 mg three times daily for a minimum of six weeks. Twenty-seven patients recovered completely and five others showed considerable improvement, although three of them appeared to be `steroid dependent'. Two patients died. The good prognosis and the response to treatment with prednisolone in this series is in keeping with an allergic demyelinating neuropathy. |
