Hypothyroidism affects D2 receptor-mediated breathing without altering D2 receptor expression

Highlights • D2 receptor expression in brain and CB of euthyroid and hypothyroid hamsters is similar. • D2 receptor modulation of breathing is different in these two groups of animals. • Hypothyroidism affects the function of these receptors differently in female hamsters.
