The dense core vesicle protein IA-2, but not IA-2β, is required for active avoidance learning

Highlights • First demonstration that deletion of a DCV protein profoundly impairs active avoidance learning. • Deletion of both copies of the IA-2 gene is required to impair active avoidance learning. • The deletion of IA-2 results in decreased phosphorylation of CREB and CAMKII in the brain. • GBR...

Zusammenfassung:Highlights • First demonstration that deletion of a DCV protein profoundly impairs active avoidance learning. • Deletion of both copies of the IA-2 gene is required to impair active avoidance learning. • The deletion of IA-2 results in decreased phosphorylation of CREB and CAMKII in the brain. • GBR12909 increases the phosphorylation of CREB and CAMKII and restores active avoidance learning. • We conclude that in the absence of the IA-2 gene active avoidance learning is impaired.
