Zusammenfassung: | Closed-Chest Transthoracic Magnetic Resonance Imaging-Guided Ventricular Septal Defect Closure in Swine Kanishka Ratnayaka, Christina E. Saikus, Anthony Z. Faranesh, Jamie A. Bell, Israel M. Barbash, Ozgur Kocaturk, Christine A. Reyes, Merdim Sonmez, William H. Schenke, Victor J. Wright, Michael S. Hansen, Michael C. Slack, Robert J. Lederman Real-time magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) guidance facilitated closed chest, nonsurgical transthoracic ventricular septal defect repair in swine. MRI provided a whole-chest context for the entire procedure, including transthoracic needle access, ventricular septal defect crossing and repair, and remote right ventricle free wall closure. This offers a potentially less morbid alternative to surgery (requiring cardiopulmonary bypass) and hybrid open-chest catheter repair, particularly for small children in whom percutaneous options impose problematic vascular access and hemodynamic perturbation. |
