Activation of both Group I and Group II metabotropic glutamatergic receptors suppress retinogeniculate transmission

Highlights • Retinogeniculate terminals have metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs). • These include both Groups I and II. • When activated, they reduce retinogeniculate ESPCs. • Corticogeniculate input activates these mGluRs and reduces retinogeniculate ESPCs.
