Zusammenfassung:A partial cDNA clone coding for the mitochondrial isozyme (ALDH I) was isolated from a human liver cDNA library (1). Using an ALDH I cDNA fragment, the authors have isolated a full length cDNA clone coding for ALDH I from a human fetal muscle cDNA library. The lambda cAL123 clone comprised the whole coding region of ALDH I mRNA and the adjacent non-coding regions as established by sequence analysis. The deduced amino acid sequence of ALDH I showed a homology of approximately 70% to the known amino acid sequence of the cytoplasmic isozyme (ALDH II).
