Sequencing, BLAST analysis, and phylogenetic constructions indicated that two Rickettsia phylotypes are present in I. pacificus . While phylotype G021 has high homology to Ixodes scapularis endosymbiotic Rickettsia , phylotype G022 is a deeply branched novel spotted fever group Rickettsia .
