Zusammenfassung:A yeast cDNA library in the vector pMAC561 was screened using a nick-translated fragment carrying coding sequences from the yeast profilin gene as a probe. Four clones were obtained, the longest of which was sequenced. Comparison of presence of an intron of 209 bases in the fifth triplet of the coding sequence. Pronounced domain homology with profilin, an G-actin binding protein sequenced from Acanthamoeba and beef identified the nature of the encoded protein. The cDNA, although containing the entire coding sequence and the 3'- non-translated trailer, is apparently incomplete and lacks a few bases at its 5' end as its starts with a G, not encoded by the genomic DNA.
