Zusammenfassung:	AIM： To investigate the effect of 5-aminosalicylic acid （5-ASA） suppositories on rectal band ligation-induced pain. METHODS： Sixty patients were randomized into two treatment groups. RESULTS： Our results showed that there was no difference between 5-ASA suppository group and the control group for pain control. CONCLUSION： 5-ASA may be an alternative treatment for hemorrhoids; however, it does not affect the rectal band ligation-induced pain.
