Zusammenfassung:EDITOR, - During a recent meeting of the International Society of Blood Transfusion in Amsterdam, F von Auer, of the Federal Ministry of Health in Germany, issued a formal statement, which signalled that the German government, in an attempt to address the challenge of self sufficiency in blood and blood products, planned to introduce a system of payment for all blood donors and that the reimbursement would be DM 50 (pounds sterling 20) per donation.
