Zusammenfassung: | Patients often consider over-the-counter (OTC) medication safe and innocuous. However, taking extra doses, presumably for enhanced effectiveness, can present serious consequences. This case report describes a young woman with hypertensive crisis following a nonsuicidal overdose of Contac.C. The safety of its main constituent, phenylpropanolamine (PPA), has been debated in the literature, with some calls for stricter regulation and the drug's removal from OTC availability. |
