Zusammenfassung: | Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis affecting humans. Its clinical features are well recognized, and its diagnosis is easily established. The etiopathogenesis of the disease is still poorly understood. The definition and classification of osteoarthritis have only recently been set up by the American Rheumatism Association and the National Institutes of Health-sponsored workshop. Management should be four-fold: educational, physiatric, medical, and surgical. The management goal should be individualized and be aimed at symptomatic relief and restoration of function. |
