Zusammenfassung:A simulation model of the flow of patients in the emergency room of a pediatric hospital was used to investigate the linkage between the emergency medical services provided and the efficient mix of scarce resources. Specific attention was given to the results of the patient flows as they were affected by whether there was one or two triage nurses, the nurse complement for non-urgent patients, and the number of orthopedic groups available for diagnosis and prescription.
