Genetic Differences in the α2-AP (Acute Phase) Globulin Response to a Phlogogenic Stimulus in Albino Rats

The responses of the α 2 -AP globulin, albumin, and seromucoid fractions to an inflammatory stimulus have been investigated in the inbred Buffalo, Fisher, and Lewis strains and the random-bred Sprague-Dawley (S), Sprague-Dawley (U) and Wistar strains of albino rats. Strain differences were found wit...

Zusammenfassung:The responses of the α 2 -AP globulin, albumin, and seromucoid fractions to an inflammatory stimulus have been investigated in the inbred Buffalo, Fisher, and Lewis strains and the random-bred Sprague-Dawley (S), Sprague-Dawley (U) and Wistar strains of albino rats. Strain differences were found with respect to all three fractions. The inbred strains gave stronger responses to the phlogogenic challenge as measured by increased synthesis of the seromucoid fraction, enhanced de novo synthesis of α 2 -AP globulin and the magnitude of the decrease in serum albumin concentrations.
