Chloramphenicol was discontinued, and cefazolin 5% and gentamicin 1% drops were given hourly, as is our standard practice. 1 Gram stain showed polymorphonuclear cells and Gram-positive bacilli. The 5[variant prime] region of the 16S rRNA gene was amplified using universal primers 27f 3 and 787r.
